5 Dec

See why I’ve got the dream of setting up an “enterprise” of a temple since high school! See how profitable it is!!

On most occasions, worshipers come to the temple to pray for a fortune since its main deity is Chao Kung-ming, a god overseeing four others in charge of wealth and prosperity.

Some worshipers also ask for the god’s permission to borrow money from the temple for investments, promising repayment of twice the original amount.

For temples like Wude, it is easy to procure an annual income of over NT$100 million (US$3.46 million). The temple relies on the people’s donations, and charges for services, such as lighting a candle for good fortune. (!!!)

PS: I didn’t even realize God of Wealth is Bi Gan (a.ka. Zhao Gongming)!! Start wondering about my upbringing.😛
