McCann, Yankees Agree to Five-Year Deal

25 Nov

This is Yankee’s 2nd major contract signed this offseason if Joe Girardi’s four-year contract extension is the first one. According to MLB Yankees official website, Yankees agreed to Brian MaCann a five-year contract worth $85 million with a vesting option for 2019 last Saturday. That is an annual $17M luxury tax hit. Unless a). Cano is not re-signed, b). they aren’t going to post Tanaka, or c). A-Rod is suspended, it is very possible that $189M luxury tax threshold is out of Yankee’s picture now…

McCann’s contact is indeed a significant upgrade for Yankees. You know how atrocious their catcher makeup – Cerville, Steward, Austin Romine and J.R. Murphy – was this past season. =’= In hindsight, again, letting Russell Martin go two years ago was indeed a very unwise decision of the front office.

洋基和Brian McCann新約: 5年8千5百萬,平均年薪1千7百萬,包含第六年選擇權。
